First Day

I started a new chapter in my life today. I boarded a plane in Burbank around 9:30 in the morning and by noon, I was ringing the doorbell at Chomp’s office.

Chomp is a startup, trying to make sense of the explosion of apps for smart phones. I’m going to help make their search engine the best it can be. It’s an interesting problem to try and solve since there isn’t a ton of data to use at the outset. I’m really looking forward to digging my teeth (see what I did there) into it.

Getting machines and accounts setup, checking out code, being walked through architecture, all of those constitute a good first day. I’ve been working in my hotel room reading more of the code, starting to think of places to start.

Yes, a very good day..
